Please find below the video clip of the very brief discussion on the proposed change to the Common Council committee schedule from the July 12th Common Council meeting. I was not informed of this before hand, and when I tried to ask some questions about it, under discussion on the motion, I was shut down. The express reason for the change, as you will see after viewing the video, was to shut me up.

I am proud of the fact that I have taken many hours to film committee and board meetings and now the Common Council meetings, and upload them to the Internet, fulfilling a commitment I made to open government in this city. It seems other members of the Council have a problem with this, as the majority of the Council stood by while I was attacked by 1st Ward Councilman McCarthy for producing these videos, and gaveled down by the mayor. In the clip, I am accused of 'browbeating department heads' by McCarthy, but am given no chance to respond to such a dispersion. If any department head in this city feels so put upon, they are welcome to contact me directly and they can discuss this with me. This would be preferred to seeing their concerns filtered through others, and their words twisted to serve the political agenda of other councilpersons who, it seems, have profound issues with me conducting the people's business in full view of the public eye, and asking questions and expecting answers from those whom we pay.
Below are documents and information relating to challenging, or changing your home's FEMA Flood Zone designation. As many of you know by now, FEMA issued new flood maps for Port Jervis that became effective in August of 2008. You can challenge them individually, by following the procedures outlined in the documents below. Be sure to check with your lender, and insurance carrier, before undertaking this, to make sure it is worth it for you.

I am on the record as asking the city to adress this collectively, during the comment period in 2007-08,  before these became law. My letter to the council from that time is below  for your information. My chief opposition to this was that many of the flood issues in the Third Ward were not due to natural water ways, but due, instead to drainage structures and pathways built by the City.

Please contact us with any questions or concerns you may have over this. Our position is clear--let the seniors stay where they have for many years, and provide a full accounting of all senior money held by the city.
